Day 23 → Something you wish you had done in your life.

There are too many of these to even name. They range from taking more pictures with/of people I love to dancing in the rain more often. I have a list of things I want to accomplish - odd stuff like skydiving and paying for the people behind me in a drive thru anonymously. Eventually I will get it all done. And hopefully then if I get asked this question again I will be able to say there isn't anything left and I did it all. But who knows how life is going to come at me. Right now, in this moment - I couldn't be happier about who I am or where my life is headed. And that seems to be all that truly matters.

Day 24 → Make a playlist to someone, and explain why you chose all the songs. (Just post the titles and artists and letter)
Day 25 → The reason you believe you’re still alive today.
Day 26 → Have you ever thought about giving up on life? If so, when and why?
Day 27 → What’s the best thing going for you right now?
Day 28 → What if you were pregnant or got someone pregnant, what would you do?
Day 29 → Something you hope to change about yourself. And why.
Day 30 → A letter to yourself, tell yourself EVERYTHING you love about yourself.

Day 22 → Something you wish you hadn't done in your life.

I think for a lot of people this question would be hard - there are generally a lot of things that people tend to regret or wish they hadn't done. For me, though, I know exactly what I wish I hadn't done but admitting it is the hard part.

I wish I hadn't let a guy define who I was. I wish I hadn't been so weak and helpless in terms of getting out from under his control. I wish I hadn't pulled away from my friends and family when they gave me advice that I didn't want to hear. I wish I hadn't believed all the lies that he fed me for so long. And the list goes on ...

I don't wish that we hadn't dated. Because he helped define me and shape who I am today. But I wish I had been stronger and not let things play out the way they did.

Day 23 → Something you wish you had done in your life.
Day 24 → Make a playlist to someone, and explain why you chose all the songs. (Just post the titles and artists and letter)

Day 21 → (scenario) Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got into a fight an hour before. What do you do?

I don't even know how this is a question. Unless the fight concluded by finding out she killed a loved one of mine or slept with my husband I would be there in a heartbeat. It is unrealistic to me to even think that I wouldn't drop whatever I was doing and go be by their side. Best friends are priceless and there is no place I would or could be but with them if they needed me ... ever.

Day 18 → Your views on gay marriage.
Day 19 → What do you think of religion? Or what do you think of politics?

Day 20 → Your views on drugs and alcohol.

My views on drugs and alcohol differ. Drugs are inexcusable to me. Not only are the illegal under every circumstance I hate the way they alter people and can so quickly change the course of someones life. People argue that alcohol does the same. And I agree, it definitely can. But there are many more in society that drink on occasion and live a normal life without addiction than someone who has decided to jump on the heroin train. To me the severity is different. For some people alcohol can become an addiction as well - I can't argue that. But generally the first beer you taste doesn't lead into a downward spiral. The first time someone snorts cocaine though they are immediately chasing the high, already hooked. I may not know what the hell I am talking about. All of my thoughts and opinions have been formed without an immense amount of actual background information seeing as I have never done drugs however I am entitled to my opinion. And I would like to think I am correct. Like always.

Day 18 → Your views on gay marriage.

Day 19 → What do you think of religion? Or what do you think of politics?

What do I think of religion? Religion is complicated, definitely not easy but completely worth it. I was brought up in a household that was split down the middle - Catholic and Baptist don't seem to mix well in my head but my parents have made it work. I grew up going to church every Sunday and Bible study was also a weekly occurrence. My religion, personally, is Christian. I could go further and note that I was baptized into the Baptist church but now am "non-denominational" ... whatever that means exactly. I know that I believe in God. That He is my Lord and Savior and sent His sons to pay for my sins. He made the ultimate sacrifice so I did not have to spend an eternity in hell. That is really all there is to it when you simplify things. Everyone tries to make things so complicated nowadays. People have mega churches, don't want to be tied to a particular denomination or say they aren't religious but spiritual - all in all if you believe then you believe and the rest of it doesn't matter. If you don't ... well, I will be praying for you.

A few thoughts on politics.
1. People base their views on politics [generally] by what they were raised and what their parents thought.
2. People [generally] can't seem to have conversations about politics with those who are from a different party without the conversation getting heated.
3. Knowing what you are talking about when someone asks you about politics can make you look very intelligent.
4. No one really knows what the shit they are talking about. Promises are made, money keeps being printed, soldiers are sent all over the world ... all while the President is playing golf.

'nuff said.

Day 20 → Your views on drugs and alcohol.
Day 21 → (scenario) Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got into a fight an hour before. What do you do?

right ... perspective.

YES the title of this particular entry is a Harry Potter reference. Deathly Hallows Part 1 - spoken by Hermoine. I am a dweeb. Don't hate.

Really though - perspective. I looked up the definition [mostly to make sure I knew what I was talking about] and I did, duh. It means according to dictionary.com the state of one's ideas, the facts known to one, etc., in having a meaningful interrelationship.

Every now and then I go back and read previous blogs I wrote. I like to laugh at myself, re-live some memories and even at times cry for just how plain sad I sound. Tonight I came across a portion of a post that I just had to dig deeper into. On September 2 I posted this: "Wedding to go to this weekend. It'll be a fun time. Getting to see quite a few people that I do not get to spend enough time with. Hopefully it will help us all reconnect and stay in touch better. All in all should be pleasant." Little did I know that wedding would be a ground-breaking, earth-shattering, all around perfect night for me.

I see how flippantly I talked about the events to come - I had no idea what the evening would bring of course but I wonder why we don't go through life attempting to see a bigger purpose in things. I never could have known I would lock eyes with the handsome guy at the top of the stairs and be swept off my feet but I went into the whole ordeal almost indifferent. What if I had chosen not to go? What if one of us had brought a date? What if I hadn't been looking his direction when he walked in? I wonder now if that would have been our only opportunity for a chance meeting or if fate would somehow have brought us together regardless of whether we attended the wedding that night. He wasn't even who I was referring to when I mentioned "people I do not get to spend enough time with" - to be honest I doubt either of us crossed one another's mines often ... if ever

I also came across this: "L: Love. So very cliche, I know. But alas here I am. I hate love. An oxymoron at its best. It is by far the most confusing, complicated, unfaltering, painful, exciting thing in the world. And yet it seems to constantly slip in and out of my fingers. All I want is to be happy again. To be in love, in a steady, seemingly normal, easy relationship and be happy. " Alas here I am in a steady, easy, normal relationship. And I am happier than I could ever imagined I would be. It took awhile but it came around. He has managed to make me not hate love and instead act like a giddy eleven year old with her first crush all the time.

SO - perspective is something we don't always choose to use to our advantage. We hurt and rarely take the time to go back and see how good that hurt and pain can be for us. That is all I managed to do here. He made it all worth my while.

Day 18 → Your views on gay marriage.

Here's the damn deal ... everyone needs to mind their business, fa sho. It confuses me when I start thinking about why anyone would even care if two men or two women got married - it doesn't concern me. These people are not hurting me in any way by choosing to spend the rest of their life with the one they love. There are marriages out there that really shouldn't be taking place. Abusive relationships, adulterous relationships ... so on and so forth [yet] no one goes about their day protesting that the men and women who are't faithful or kind to one another shouldn't get married. As a society we are so concerned with what is right or wrong and many do not take kindly to homosexuality. It's stupid. We are called to love one another. To be accepting. So who am I to cast a stone and put rules and infringements on a lifestyle just because it happens to be different than mine ?!

just saying ...
